Center of Culture and Knowledge. Carolino
The Colegio del Espíritu Santo was initially dedicated to basic education, which included elementary grammar (the rudiments of Latin), intermediate grammar (general knowledge of Latin), and advanced grammar (letter writing in Latin). Under the Bourbon name Carolino, in homage to King Charles IV, this center of Jesuitism in Puebla acquired the name by which it is currently known.
